My kids say the cutest things. Sometimes I remember to write them down. Sometimes I don't. Sometimes the words they say elicit such deep feelings, I'll never forget them.
Such is the case with my son, Owen. During his 5-year-old photo session, he stopped goofing off for a split second, pointed right at me and said, "You. Are. Lovable. That's you." My heart flip-flopped with surprise, love and pride in my first born. I did the best thing I could at the time; I made it into a Facebook cover. It got a fair number of likes, but I felt it deserved more.
It nagged at me for years. I knew I wanted to turn this adorable, sweet quote into something more. Something visible. Something I would enjoy every day. Facebook posts come and go. These days they go ever more fleetingly. I couldn't quite put my finger on how to commemorate this moment... so I tucked it away in the back of my mind.
When my second son, Cooper, reached five years old, I noticed he, too, was overflowing with loving words. Every day he says to me, "I love you. You're my best." I decided to do a complimentary photo session for his 5-year-old pictures, so that when I decided what to do, their photos with quotes would become the perfect pair.
Out of this was born: "Kid Quotes." If a picture is worth a thousand words, what happens when you add words to the picture?
I'd love to hear what you think in the comments below.
